Post 2: My Rhetorical Situation
Hello,
My first choice for this class project was one about traveling after retirement, a wonderful fantasy that my husband and I have enjoyed for years now. I could not find enough "meat" to the subject.
I changed my blog that I am following. It is https://www.nsc.org/safety-first-blog. I have "lived and breathed" safety first my entire working life. Occupational Safety and Health Administration was 'born' in 1970. I began my work life in 1975. I have seen evolvement of safety practices.
From this topic I can find a fit within the Rhetorical Triangle of our video for my essay.
The video states that the goal of communication is to provide fitting response to a situation. This was illustrated with a triangle.
The 3 sides are the issue to discuss, the audience to engage with, and the writer. The sides contain or encase a fourth element - the purpose of the engagement or conversation.
Rhetorical is a 'dusty' word for means of persuasion. Every situation is different. It is the writer's responsibility to evaluate context of the situation: time, place, audience, and I think, now more than ever, social, cultural, and political conditions. In my case, I believe the most fun will be exploration of the medium/genre available and applicable to me.
